He wasn't any kind of challenge at all.

[The laugh fades into a smile, equally cold.]

That wasn't because he was a challenge, Watanuki.

It's because he deserved it.

I see, I see. For hurting someone close to you, yes?

For going anywhere near Koide. For not being able to commit to his wish. For giving him a really stupid, half-baked, pointless death. There are a lot of reasons.

Those points sound quite infuriating! Of course, that brings into question what to do now.

I've already done what I needed to do. Syaoran isn't really my problem anymore.

You may think so, but you would be incorrect.

[Watanuki smiles, and he reaches out to pat Anon on the head, like one would do to a child.]

Of course not! Did you really think I would let a conversation like that happen just to listen to you talk about your part in it?

[He narrows his eyes, more at the patting than anything, but all he does is scoot out his chair a little -- out of reach.]

I'd say it's not like you to be cryptic, but that would be a total lie.

[Watanuki frowns a little at Anon pulling away, but it's no matter. Instead, he holds up that hand that had been patting Anon's head, and he snaps his fingers.

Anon will find himself frozen in place, unable to move anything. It's as if his own personal time has 'stopped', but he can still perceive the world around him.]

[Ah, it's just like Friday. Friday sucked, so he is not down with this, but what can he do.]

[He can sit patiently as Watanuki sets his cup down and stands up from his chair.]

Do you remember what I told you about grudges, Anon?

[He makes a 'zip your lips' motion after a moment, but instead of silencing Anon, it frees him to speak. The rest of his body won't be able to move, though.]

I remember that you barely told me anything about grudges.

[Did you free him up to be sassy because RIP.]

[Give him a break Anon he's new at this!]

Well they're a real thing! And inviting the grudge of a witch is very, very bad!

I mean, I figured, because Nirrti is the way she is. But... if you're going to try to make me regret things because of a grudge, then it's not going to work.

[He's all frozen still, so there's no facial expression going on, but there's a steel certainty in those words.]

[The problem is he's got too much Shounen in him to really do anything too mean, which makes all of this posturing ineffective. But that doesn't mean that he's not Angry, and he's trying to find a way to vent his anger in a positive manner.]

Well you should! You were needlessly cruel when you KNEW your actions would affect more people than Syaoran! I could forgive you for killing him since you were wronged too, but the method was too much! Your feelings aren't the only ones that matter here!

[He just kind of. Stares in his frozen state at Watanuki yelling, which unfortunately is about as threatening as a yapping chihuahua, I'm sorry Watanuki. At least Anon kind of looks like he's listening.

Or. Well. He looks the same. But the meta helps.]

I don't think I was needlessly cruel.

I made it as fast as Nirrti wanted. If I'm being honest, I could have executed him a hundred more times, and it still wouldn't be enough.

[Yeah. He's just kind of saying that with a perfectly even voice.]

My feelings are the ones that matter, because each person matters the most to themselves. That's how I want to live.

...Your feelings, huh?

[His yappiness has toned down slightly, since hearing all of that is making his anger come to a boil again.]

Well maybe you should feel what I felt, if only your feelings matter. Then maybe you'll understand that yes, you were cruel with his death.

[Spoilers: while the death was cruel to Syaoran, he's referring to himself here. Anon has been cruel to Watanuki, which is why Watanuki is talking about the witch's grudge.]

Are you going to do what the ghost did, that first time?

[He sounds quiet and displeased about it, but he doesn't seem to have any intention of dissuading the Witch.]

[He's moved around the table at this point, and now he's standing in front of Anon.]

I really, really, really want to. I want to make you suffer like you made me suffer. I want you to feel pain. I want to see you cry and scream and beg me to stop.

...but I would get lectured, I think. And the price for that kind of cruelty is very high.

Maybe that's also the difference between a Witch and what I am. I wouldn't know.

[His voice is still quiet.]

You can do what you want, lecture or not. You can fight through pain just as long as you can remove the source.

Maybe. It's in a Witch's nature to be cruel.

[And it would be so, so easy to be that cruel. He's the Witch of Dimensions. He could take Anon to every single world where Natsuno dies horribly and force him to watch, again and again. He could take Anon to a world he despises, force him to live out an entire life there, and do that a thousand times over before bringing him back to this very moment and forcing him to finish the game. The possibilities are endless.

But the cost. In order to do that, he would have to pay the price.]
