...you know, it's really, really hard to ask for help. Because if I put words to what I need, then it's like those problems are actually real, and I can't ignore them anymore.

Yes, like those visions of the possible future the others saw. What about it?

Because I spend so much of my time in dreams, sometimes it's hard to tell when I'm sleeping and when I'm awake.

[There's a slight pause there, and he glances away.]

A reminder of which is which wouldn't be bad, when it's particularly difficult.

[Shadow smiles a bit, slyly]

So what? You want me to pinch you to make sure you're not dreaming?

More like if I ask you 'is this a dream, or is this real', you tell me the truth. A pinch would tell me nothing, I feel pain both in reality and in dreams.

We're almost there, aren't we. [He looks back at Watanuki. His expression is neutral, but he's hung around the hedgehog enough to pick up on that touch of worry there] Is it... going to be alright?

... I'm almost a bit more worried about what awaits everyone back at the Foundation than what has yet to come here. Out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Oh, I have an idea for that already. I know some won't be going back, but for those who choose to, I'm not going to just put them back right where they were.

You have a plan to protect them?

Good. He's a useful familiar, and I'd like to actually get to use his motorbike form somewhere where I can actually ride. [Shadow's back spines suddenly flare out into a pair of fluffy black owl wings] And these. I haven't had much use for them, yet, but I like them. [Shadow puts them away] Oh... just curious, for my own petty reasons. They treat those from 6350 worse than dogs, because we're "not real". How I'd love to prove to them that their existence is every bit as tenuous...
