He stood by passively and watched instead as Atsushi, once he got untangled and stepped to a clear part of the backyard, focused and transformed into the tiger.
...and it promptly looked at Dazai and Watanuki with a hunger in its eyes, any trace of Atsushi gone. Lights out, nobody's home. Watch out for the tiger that was getting ready to pounce.
